Benefits Of Methanol & Derivatives

Methanol is a liquid chemical that can be easily and economically transported, so it is possible to monetize natural gas from remote locations, but with limited pipeline connections or relatively low yields and/or economics. As a motor fuel, methanol is chemically and physically similar to ethanol. Methanol is a low-carbon hydrogen carrier fuel produced from high-ash coal, agricultural waste, carbon dioxide, and natural gas from thermal power plants. Methanol is a promising energy carrier because it is easier to store in liquid form than hydrogen and natural gas.    

Methanol and its derivatives, such as acetic acid and formaldehyde, produced through chemical reactions, are used as the base material for acrylic plastics; synthetic fabrics and fibers used to make clothing; adhesives, paints, and plywood used in construction; and as pharmaceuticals and Chemical reagents in agrochemicals. When methanol is mixed with similar substances, it can be used as an intermediate material in the production of thousands of methanol and methanol derivatives used in almost all areas of our life.   

Methanol is cheaper to produce than other alternative fuels. It improves energy security: Methanol can be produced from a variety of carbon-based household materials, such as biomass, natural gas, and coal. Methanol can be efficiently used in marine diesel engines with minor modifications using a small amount of pilot fuel. More and more, syngas, a mixture of hydrogen and carbon monoxide derived from biomass, is being used for methanol production.
